When a new artist appears on the scene with an exhilarating debut, it’s hard to listen to anything else. 18-year-old Jorja Smith achieved such a feat with the release of her debut single ‘Blue Lights’. The Walsall native and South London residing artist marries modern R&B sounds with potent songwriting. With a sample from Dizzee Rascal’s ‘Sirens’, and several hip-hop references, Jorja uses the track as a platform for social commentary. Despite only having one song out, Jorja is certainly tipped for success this year.
